It was so soothing & relaxing to spend some time on the porch of the Historic Lind house which my sister rented for her son's bride & groom shower.

Here she is enjoying sitting in a covered wagon,wearing her prairie dress with her doll which also has a prairie dress . She is also holding her corn husk doll , Charlott, which supposely is exactly like the one Laura had also name Charlott

Theme 244: restful

Original site of the Ingalls dug out. It was so peaceful & restful there on the prarie on Plum Creek. We had our noon lunch there exactly as Laura did in the Little House on the Prairie books. We each had little pail/milk bucket ( bought at the museum) filled with bread with butter & jam(plum), a hard boiled egg & a chunk of cheese along with lemon aid to drink.It was one of the best lunches I have had!! Jessa boled the eggs at home to bring along on this vacation for this lunch- the rest was boughten in the store.The Ingalls didn't have it that easy. They had to raise chickens,bake the bread themselves & make their own cheese.I wonder how they got lemons to make lemonaid way back in those years? Probably at Olesons mercantile store.

One of my granddaughter's goal on the trip to Plum Creek was to knit on the prairie like Laura Ingalls did in the Little House on the Prairie series, so she did just that! Of course what ever she was making is unfinished at this point. I think it is a scarf.

Theme155: In the Distance

I couldn't decide if I should post this photo for ths theme or for the theme motion blur.It fits both.
Driving through prairie country we saw this train from the car window. I never saw a train with so many tank cars on it! Later we came across an ethanol plant and since we saw also so many hugh corn fields I guess these train tanks carry ethanol .I knew of course about ethanol gas but when you see the corn fields & the hundreds of train tanks it all becomes so real. I have read that it takes an equal amount of gasoline to make an equal amount of ethanol. Out tax dollars at work. I wonder if it is moral to to use this God given earth to produce fuel rather than food with the uncertainity of the times we are living . Just some rambling thoughts of mine. I really don't know enough about it to be making a comment.
Looking over my list of themes I realize that soon I wont be able to match the photos I take to a theme but will have to go on photowalks to take pics for the themes. That will make it alot harder!! I am sure that was the intent all along for this photowalk but life gets in the way . So far I have not missed a day of posting.

There ia another Wilder pageant at DeSmitt,S.Dakota.( 2 hrs further west)Wouldn't it be fun to see that one too? And then since so close to the Black Hills go on to see Mt.Rushmore,buffalo etc. A suggested future trip in the planning!!
